Gladiator Pits
Concept
There are 3 "pits" where a PC may fight. To get into one of those pits the
PC must talk with the fight master. To get out, he must either defeat 10
progressivly tougher opponents, or die. Only one PC may be in each pit
at a time (although ... I'm contemplating making a party based version).
Once a PC gets put into a pit, they must defeat 10 progressivly tougher
monsters. That in itself isn't too interesting. The twist is: Every time a
PC beats a monster, a clone of that monster is created in each of the
other 2 pits. (A clone is not recloned into the other pits when it
is slain). This makes it a competition against the other PC's since you want
to kill your monsters as quickly as possible so you don't have to fight
as many. When a PC has killed all 10 of their core monsters (not clones)
they are declared the winner, and all the fights in the pits are stopped,
the winner gets a reward, and the PC's are teleported out of the pits.
To Do
I need to find a stable test server that someone will let me run this
module on. Somewhere where I have access to change the module, and
restart the server, DM access would be good too. I can run it from home,
but that's less than optimal. Any volunteers? Email me
gladiator@wpidalamar.com
Right now, the battle starts as soon as one PC enters a pit. This can be
useful for giving lower level characters a head start. It may be better to
have a lock system like in Contest of Champions.
I don't adequatly clear out the pits when a battle is over or a PC is killed.
Right now the fight master just hurls a few powerfull spells in the pit that
will most likely kill any stray monsters.
The whole winning thing needs some scripting.
Preparing for a battle needs more help. Shops, helpers, maybe a way to
hire some henchmen. And some game options to determine all that.
Right now it's possible to cast spells / use ranged weapons through the fences
I need to figure something out for that.
Where to get it
It's in a state of flux right now, so email me if you want a copy. gladiator@wpidalamar.com would work great.
